KASTELLORIZO INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS 24-31 AUGUST 2025
Beyond Borders | Kastellorizo International Documentary Festival is preparing for its landmark 10th edition, setting sail from August 24-31, 2025, to bring audiences the most refreshing, multicultural cine-event of the summer!
We invite enthusiastic and committed individuals to join us in the preparation and implementation of this milestone edition. Volunteers are the vital link between the Festival, the island of Kastellorizo, our guests, and participating filmmakers, playing a key role in ensuring a successful event. Volunteers will have the chance to engage deeply with the Festival’s activities, gaining valuable experience and skills.
In addition to being part of a major international event and experiencing dozens of films from around the world, as well as artistic creations and cultural events, volunteers will have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge. Through active participation in projects, workshops, and other Festival activities, as well as interaction with filmmakers and cinema professionals from Greece and abroad, volunteers will gain invaluable experience. The Festival covers transportation from Athens to Kastellorizo and back, accommodation on the island, and provides meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
Qualifications and Requirements
Volunteers must be between 18 and 50 years old. Key qualities include courtesy, responsibility, commitment, strong communication skills, creativity, teamwork spirit, the ability to work under pressure, and proficiency in English due to the Festival’s international nature. Knowledge of additional languages is also advantageous.
Volunteer Roles
Volunteers will assist in the following areas for the 10th edition of the Festival:
- Floor Manager Assistants: Provide support to Festival staff and external partners across three screening venues, ensuring the smooth operation of events throughout morning and afternoon shifts.
- Information and Sales Team: Provide information to guests and visitors on the Festival program and side events at info kiosks, assist with customer service at outdoor shops and help promote and sell Festival products to enhance visitor experience.
- Guest Transportation Team: Facilitate guest transportation to and from accommodations, events and activities, ensuring smooth coordination for groups and individuals during morning and afternoon shifts.
- Venue and Material Management Assistants: Assist in the setup of venues, equipment transportation and organization of materials, playing a crucial role in the seamless operation of Festival spaces.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Selected volunteers are expected to:
- Attend volunteer meetings held before and during the Festival.
- Check and respond to email and phone communications daily throughout the Festival.
- Have thorough knowledge of the screening schedule, activities, and venue locations.
- Hold a valid vaccination or recovery COVID certificate (optional).
Volunteers should also acknowledge and agree to the following:
- Services are provided on an unpaid basis.
- Volunteers will sign a waiver confirming their services as voluntary.
- Work hours and duties are assigned by the Festival, and volunteers are expected to fulfill their responsibilities responsibly.
- Volunteers should promptly report any issues to the Festival staff.
- Volunteers wishing to discontinue their participation must notify Festival staff at least three (3) days in advance.
- In cases of non-compliance with regulations, the Festival reserves the right to terminate collaboration.
- Certificates of participation are available upon request.
